POKOJÍČEK – community center
The goal of the project is the creation of the community center Pokojíček in the territory of the Prague 7 municipality (purchase of real estate and its reconstruction for the needs of the community center and CS – people with mental health experience ), whose main task is to improve the quality of life of people with mental illness.
KC Pokojíček will seamlessly build on the already realized initiatives of the Art Movement focused on the integration of the target group into everyday life (projects Parallel Lives 1-4, Parallel Worlds and Oko- mobile community center I. and II.) and will ensure the necessary continuity and stability in the provision of destigmatization activities . The target group will have the opportunity to meet regularly both with each other and with the general public.
The motto of the Pokojíček project is: “The stigmatizing campaign to protect society from the mentally ill is shameful and primitive. People with a mental disorder, on the other hand, need to be integrated into society” (Cyril Höschl’s letters).
The “stone” community center is a logical consequence of the previous activities of our company, and will enable further development, natural continuation and stabilization. It will thus create a unique space for meeting, getting to know each other and discussing not only mental health. Through the activities, we want to show, on the one hand, the enormous potential of those who have gone through or are going through a psychological crisis, but also to let others see into their lives, often determined by the struggle against stigma and prejudice.
The Pokojíček project is conceived as a flexible multifunctional space that can be easily and quickly modified for individual events that will take place in it: lectures, exhibitions, projections and experiential installations.
