CULTURAL AND AWARENESS PROGRAMME FOR SUPPORT OF DESTIGMATISATION OF PERSONS WITH MENTAL HEALTH ISSUES

The mobile community centre “EYE” travels through Prague with a rich destigmatisation and cultural programme with the aim of highlighting through contemporary art the problem of social exclusion of people with experience of mental illness. The activities of the “EYE” raise awareness of the problems of their lives and involve them in the cultural and social life of the capital city of Prague. Under the activation programmes, the target group of the project prepares and provides an interactive destigmatisation programme of the mobile cultural centre. It anchors for 3 months in each district, creating a unique meeting place for the target group with the general public. The programme includes film screenings, theatre performances, concerts, animation workshops and improvisation workshops of professionals with the mentally ill. It will also offer lectures and discussions aimed at bringing the world of mentally ill people closer to the lay public, an interactive video installation called “Into Your Own Hands”, which will experience firsthand how a person with schizophrenia feels. An integral part of the programme is an exhibition of artworks by artists with experience of mental illness. The project runs from February 2017 to December 2018. Partners are involved in the implementation is FOKUS CZ, n.g.o.
